Learn to Dance at the Sun Pavilion
Harrogate’s Sun Pavilion on Cornwall Road, are branching out in the New Year
to offer dance classes to the dance hungry public.
Dance school, The Dance Academy, of Birstall, Leeds, will be holding free taster
sessions on Monday January 4th before the start of courses the following week.
Starting at 6pm with Junior Street Dance classes for 8 - 14 year olds, these
are followed by adult Latin line dancing – perfect as you don’t need a partner,
and at 7.45pm there’s an adult ballroom session. This class teaches all the Strictly
dances such as the Waltz, Quickstep, and the Cha Cha Cha.
The sessions finish with a social dance of 50/50, mainly Latin and ballroom,
with sequence styles.
The dance school currently hold classes at the Princess Ballroom in Birstall.
There are three dance tutors, all with championship history. Tutor Colin Frith
says, “The success of the BBC show, Strictly Come Dancing, has given the general
public an incentive to go out and want to learn to dance, so we are here to offer
the tuition.”
“The Sun Pavilion, with its art deco style and the stunning stained glass domed
roof, is a wonderful venue for this type of activity. We are thrilled to be using
the venue and we look forward to opening the doors in January.”
